A New Earth
We went to the moon, and we discovered Earth. "Earthrise", the photo taken by William Anders in 1968 from Apollo 8 is one of the most important photographs ever taken. For the first time ever we saw Earth as it was meant to be seen, not colour coded and labelled with countries as maps would have you believe, but as a majestic blue globe in a deep black abyss. The act of setting foot on the moon has been one of humankind's greatest achievements: We became giants; but we gazed back at our home and the infinite cosmos around it, and insignificance became us.
