The Cockatoo Identity
Think Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Likewise New York and the Statue of Liberty. Cockatoo Island does not posess a monument that encapsulates its essence and represents its identity. Hence, the public are not able to recoginise a singular, significant feature that they can connect the island with. Through the development of a textile identity, contextualised with an existing structure on the island, this designed landmark aims to give Cockatoo Island a recognisable presence and facilitate ongoing re-connections with the site through memories of stories and history.
