Habitus
A series of artworks created in response to the standardisation of habitual practices of cleanliness. Exploring bio-politics, the prank 'soap that makes your hands dirty' (make with dirt from homeless people) is a not only a way of making you aware of your obsession with the sterile, but an opening into the early onset of conditioned behaviour in Australian society. 40 schools across the north shore of Sydney were asked permission for installation of this soap in their schools bathrooms. Six schools replied, all rejecting the proposal. It is interesting that every institution approached endorsed diversity and conventional values, yet so easily ignored and dismissed this work.
