Solastalgia
Solastalgia is a series of corrugated iron sculptures made of silk. Each piece of silk has been left with the physical imprint of rusted iron and stiffened to take the form of the detritus that can be found all across rural Australia. Corrugated iron is a powerfully charged symbol and something that is quintessentially Australian. However, for me, it symbolises antiquated ideas of land management and how we perceive our environment, ideas that needs to be quickly altered to correlate with the onset of global warming and man-made ecological decline.
