The live but lifeless sounds of an empty conch shell are amplified via a lapel mic and two speakers wall mounted at average ear-height. The volume increases automatically according to the number of people sharing the space with it – more bodies means more sound, but that sound is simultaneously rendered less audible by those same bodies, because bodies are also resounding objects.
