ENDANGERED (2013)
If it's extinct, it's too late. But what if it was endangered? A seed bank brings hope, it allows us to save our native treasures from extinction. It's still not too late. Treasure? Would you try save yourself if you were dying? In order for us to survive, we need to save our environment. Each plant species has a vulnerability and individuality. Human interaction with the environment has led to damage in the ecosystem and limit plant variety. Seeds are still available for these endangered species, it is not too late to turn around and save the environment. In this series of work, seeds for endangered species had been sourced. With the available seeds, research and observation of these species have been made. The collection captures the beauty of these Australian Native plants and are interpreted into a metal form to communicate how human's impact in the environment had brought these species close to extinction. Seeds to each species are made into rings (look at artist's website for more images)
