This visual narrative documents my family’s experience with breast cancer. My motivation was to show the hardships that my mum faced when dealing with this hereditary disease. Entrapment and vulnerability are two emotions experienced. The photo’s subjects like her wig, bra and breast form. are intended to be obscure to the viewer until the work is studied more closely to uncover the true identity of the objects. Variations of light and texture gives the work an edgy and sculptural look, that also vail our family’s distress in the ongoing battle with loss and survival.
