Early in 2013 a trip to Fowlers Gap resulted in a shift in platform to investigate the boundaries and complexities between man and nature. As urbanised westerners we experience nature contained. Contemplation of the vastness of the desert beyond our narrow lives inspired a series of installations then photographed. By introducing a series of soupspoons, chosen for their symbolism of consumerism while retaining a beauty associated with humanities’ ability create, against the backdrop of the desert landscape the resultant installations were exciting for the tensions and harmonies they evoked. I continue to work with these ideas using various media.
