White Rocks at Fowlers gap
My major piece from Fowlers Gap was an installation of white quartz stones hanging from a tree branch. This painting is part of a series of works based on the documentation of this installation, particularly colour photographs of the stones used in the installation. Informed by Susan Norrie’s work, especially the series called ‘Peripherique’, my process was painting many transparent layers of acrylic paint and gloss and glaze mediums. The cut-out photographs of the white rocks have been collaged onto these layers of acrylic paint on canvas.
