Living in Litter
'Living in Litter' explores the aesthetics of waste and how traditional Indian quilt-making techniques of re-purposing fabric waste into beautifully embroidered quilts could be applied to another commonly disposed item, the plastic bag. Layers of plastic bags are first embroidered and pieced together like a patchwork, a final layer of plastic is fused together creating a waterproof surface. The multi-purpose waterproof quilt can be used as seating, shelter or decoration. Photo: Ian Hobbs, 2012
