Vita in Motu
Vita in Motu - Life in Motion is a ceramic investigation that looks into dynamic symmetry as well as the balance in human movement. As we walk, we do not do so with any form of symmetry, especially not in a still shot, however this process over time allows for a consistent balanced movement which equates in a certain symmetry, and I think in a perfect balance. This piece looks at the process of balance and symmetry and the relationship they share in regards to the way living things move. Where buildings and things are often symmetrical and static a human is neither of these things. This asymmetry provides a good tension where not everything is predictable. The material of porcelain used in this abstract design may raise questions of the already established inherent value of the material as precious, as well as the preciousness of the human body and bones.
