Lightsphere blends aesthetics and function, art and design. My intention is to return art to the realm of the every-day – not only inhabiting living spaces, but complementing them also.
I have repurposed a cultural icon - the schooner glass - into a striking sculptural form and beacon for social gatherings.
The work is comprised of hundreds of schooner glasses recovered from unused factory surplus. My decision to reduce the form to one material manifested in repetition is a celebration of simple everyday forms and a testament to the potential aesthetic beauty they possess. The intangible medium of light illuminates this inherent beauty.
