We Grow Like Weeds: Workshop Platform
We Grow like Weeds is a portable community creative workshop platform. With conceptual roots in DIY anarchist and activist community, japanese kawaii culture, the project aims to encourage active participation in contemporary craft and art culture.
The project uses techniques such as woodwork, jewellery joining techniques, digital textile printing and the majority of materials are re-purposed- an old umbrella, milk crates and scrap wood were used both for sustainabilty, punk sensibility and to keep costs down.
Portability is an major factor in the project, it must be easily moved, as well as sturdy and safe for use by people of all ages.
Since it’s creation, the work has been on display and in use in the Rizzeria Pop Up Shop, in the Rocks, used for various workshops and as a quiet, pink, glittery refuge for weary tourists.
