We Grow Like Weeds: Typeface
“We Grow Like Weeds” is a custom typeface by miss helen for the “we grow like weeds” project.
Hand drawn, scanned and vectorised, it features undulating top and bottom lines, as well as a randomised left and right lean.
It is a whimsical, cute and fun typeface referencing ornate decorative type of the early 1900s, but flawed and hand made, referencing a post modern aesthetic. With curls on the endpoints of the capital letters, it’s linework is relaxed with unique texturing.
“We Grow Like Weeds” is suited only to titles, and is to be used as a headline font in all publications related to the project.
It remains flawed and hand drawn for a personalised human touch, combining the ease of digital typography with the whimsy of times past, of visiting cards and hand writen notes, it reminds us that the past must not be discarded entirely, but we can pick out and learn from it’s many positive aspects whilst discarding the less useful.
