The COFA Annual 2013

Resume

To quote Arthur Schopenhauer. (1851), ‘Everyman [sic] takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.’ The digital technology of the 21st century has allowed an expanded ‘field of vision’. The Sydney foreshores series attempts to depict changes in our ability to perceive ‘depth of field’ brought about by digital cameras and the capacity to ‘zoom in’. In drawing the foliage in the distance larger and more detailed than the human constructions a contrast between euclidean and fractal geometric shapes reveals an expanded vision and renewed appreciation of the beauty and minutiae of nature.
