Body cover
This work examines the idea of protection. In contemporary culture, body protection is provided by clothing that creates a sense of physical and psychological support. The cover is designed to connect with clothing by attaching to buttons in a symbolic notion of this idea. Marrying of metals by combining brass, nickel and copper to create a flush surface further enhances a sense of strength that echoes the tradition of metal suiting. Patterns created from using this technique mimics the textile patterns common on fabrics. The cover confuses the notion of jewellery and clothing as separate wearables by creating jewellery for the clothing in a reference to military uniforms and renaissance. A combination of metal and textiles interacting reveals the concept of body protection by empowering the wearer that feels protected.
