The COFA Annual 2013

Working across photography, video and installation Messih’s practice is as much an attempt to understand the wider human relationship to natural phenomena as it is their own pursuit to connect with forces that are bigger than ourselves. Seeking openness rather than closure, natural phenomena is engaged with in a two-way conversation. Continuously risking unrequited connection, their practice encourages chance, personal experience and reflection, whilst using a layman’s understanding of science. Messih’s practice operates between subjectivity and objectivity, inner and outer, certainty and doubt to explore love and longing for another human, for the sublime in nature, or perhaps both simultaneously.
