With the force of a thousand suns, 2013, Meteorite, glass, metal, MDF, Dimensions variable. Photography: Jack L. Dunbar
This meteorite arrived on Earth because Earth got in the way of its trajectory. The collision happened in the Nullarbor Plain in Western Australia in 1911. The meteorite was purchased online in 2013 from a man in Alaska, and then tracked coming towards Sydney via UPS. The next dis-placement came when it was violently forced into the realm of culture, smashing through a glass display box on a gallery plinth. With the force of a thousand suns is a phrase taken from pornographic Japanese manga, referring to male ejaculation. Text by Amelia Groom, 2013
