The COFA Annual 2013

Resume

My work explores animal-human relations using real preserved animal bodies (taxidermy). I argue that using the real thing creates art that is both authentic and empathetic. Sculptures of animals rendered in resin, plastic, stone, wood, ceramics, metal or plaster cannot speak as directly to us as the real animal body. My work touches on a different aspects of the human-animal relationship including biodiversity, pollution, climate change, conservation and stewardship. All my specimens are ethically sourced, no animal has died to make my work. visit: www.rodmcrae.com.au
