Promethean Obsession
Installation
Empty shed, Norfolk Island Pine needles (Araucaria heterophylla)
Promethean Obsession is a documentation of the site-specific installation I created during my time at Smith’s Lake in May 2012. The empty shed I claimed as my studio for the week became a symbol of isolation, secrecy and creativity. I would slink away each day to build upon my obsession – an arduous process of collecting, sorting and arranging. Coupled with the sublime landscape I was working in, the process resembled my envisagement of Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’. My work highlights humanities craving to be the master of their own creation.
